Recent data shows older adults have the highest rate of suicide among all age groups in the United States. This skills-based QPR training program is designed to enable those who live and work with older adults to recognize suicide warning signs and clues, and respond effectively.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Location: Washington Street Conference Center, Room 1220 (102 SW Washington St, Hillsboro, OR 97123)

Parking: You may park in the free parking structure attached to the building.

Safety: QPR teaches a specific suicide prevention first aid intervention. Some of the content of the curriculum may activate troubling feelings and thoughts. The class is not a form of counseling, therapy, or support group. It is up to your discretion to decide whether attending QPR training is ok for you at this time.

  • If you are a suicide loss or attempt survivor, we suggest delaying taking QPR for at least one year.
  • If you have questions about whether this class is a good fit for you at this time, please email the coordinator (listed below) at least two days prior to the class.
  • If you are currently experiencing thoughts of suicide, please contact one of the following (available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week):
    • Washington County Mental Health Crisis Line: 503-291-9111
    • Clackamas County Mental Health Crisis Line: 503-655-8585
    • Multnomah County Mental Health Call Center: 503-988-4888
    • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (call, text, chat): 9-8-8
