Recent data shows older adults have the highest rate of suicide among all age groups in the United States. This skills-based QPR training program is designed to enable to recognize suicide warning signs and clues in older adults, and respond effectively.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Location: Hillsboro Recovery Center, Training Room B #1022 (5250 NE Elam Young Parkway, Hillsboro, OR 97124) – room directions will be shared in your registration confirmation email

Parking: You may park in any available spot around the perimeter of the building.

Safety: QPR teaches a specific suicide prevention first aid intervention. Some of the content of the curriculum may activate troubling feelings and thoughts. The class is not a form of counseling, therapy, or support group. It is up to your discretion to decide whether attending QPR training is ok for you at this time.

  • If you have experienced a suicide-related trauma such as a loss, attempt or crisis, please delay taking QPR for at least one year.
  • If you have questions about whether this class is ok for you at this time, please email the coordinator (listed below) at least two days prior to the class.
  • If you are currently experiencing thoughts of suicide, please contact one of the following (available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week):

    • Multnomah County Mental Health Call Center: 503-988-4888
    • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (call, text, chat): 9-8-8
