QUESTION, PERSUADE AND REFER (QPR)
If someone close to you talked about wanting to end their life, what would you do? QPR is an introductory training for anyone wanting to learn how to help a person with thoughts of suicide. Participants learn how to identify the warning signs, how to approach and inquire and how to connect the person with supports by following three simple steps – Question, Persuade & Refer
Participants will also learn about the prevalence of suicide, risk factors, and common myths about suicide. The training includes a booklet that summarizes the training and a list of helpful local, state and national resources. This proven training is widely used.

What you will learn in this two-hour course:
- Warning signs of suicide
- Starting a safety conversation with the person having thoughts of suicide
- How to persuade the person to get help
- Referring and connecting the person with support
- Offering hope to the person

Requesting a QPR for your group or organization
QPR is the only training that we can provide specifically for your workplace, community group, school, faith community or other gathering place. Trainings are scheduled upon request for groups of at least 15 people. To schedule one, please complete the QPR request form and allow at least 3 to 4 weeks advance notice so that we can identify a mutually agreeable time for the two hour class.
