 R) is a brief\, evidence-based suicide prevention training that teaches co
 mmunity members how to recognize the warning signs of suicide\, ask direct
 ly about suicidal thoughts\, persuade someone to seek help\, and refer the
 m to appropriate resources. Often described as the “CPR of suicide preve
 ntion\,” QPR equips participants with simple\, practical skills that can
  be used with friends\, family members\, coworkers\, students\, or communi
 ty members. Additionally\, participants learn how to have respectful\, eff
 ective conversations about reducing access to lethal means—particularly 
 firearms and medications—during times of suicide risk. Research shows th
 at creating time and distance between a person in crisis and lethal means
