 Portland (MC)
DESCRIPTION:ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)\nIn this 2
 -day\, interactive\, skills-based training\, you will learn to provide sui
 cide first-aid using a unique 6-task model.\n\n\n 	Attendance on both days
  (8:30 am - 4:30 pm) is required to receive a certificate of completion.\
 n 	The certificate of completion is eligible for 12.75 hours of CEUs for 
 OBPCT\, MHACBO and MHAAO. The certificate is accepted by NASW via an addit
 ional step. Please inquire with the trainers on how to submit for NASW.\n 
 	Please email us if you need to cancel.\n 	Both days will be very intense
  and we hope you can find a balance in your life outside of the training t
 o help relax after these challenging days.\n 	Parking Instructions:  Plea
 se enter on the training side of the building that has the red rose banner
 .\n 	In addition to the registration confirmation email\, a pre-training e
 mail will be sent 3 days prior to the training with further details and in
 structions.\n\n\nWho Should Attend?\n\n 	Anyone aged 16 and over is encour
 aged to take ASIST. It provides a suicide first-aid intervention model for
  relationships with family\, friends and co-workers.\n 	It can also be inc
 orporated into more formal helping roles such as counseling\, health care\
 , crisis services\, or chaplaincy. You can play a vital role in creating N
 etworks of Safety from suicide.\n\nWhat Will You Learn?\n\n 	In ASIST you 
 will learn how to help someone thinking about suicide develop a personaliz
 ed SafePlan to keep safe-for-now and connect with further help.\n 	Learn t
 o apply a Safety Framework to guide the development of this SafePlan throu
 gh a collaborative helping relationship.\n 	You will also consider how per
 sonal and community attitudes about suicide affect someone's openness to s
 eek help and your ability to provide it.\n 	This workshop will increase yo
 ur willingness\, confidence\, and capacity to provide suicide first-aid.\n
 \n\n\nHow Will You Learn?\n\n 	We aim to provide a safe learning environme
 nt.\n 	Trainer presentations and powerful videos to stimulate discussion a
 nd support learning\n 	Extensive opportunities for skills practice\n 	Shar
 ed participant experiences that enrich learning\n 	Trainer-facilitated wor
 kgroups to optimize participation\n\nWhat Else\n\n 	Direct and honest disc
 ussion about suicide is encouraged. While sometimes challenging\, this pre
 pares helpers to openly approach people with thoughts of suicide\, and to
