DESCRIPTION:ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)\nAttendanc
 e:  Please note that the ASIST workshop is a two-day in-person class\, 
 and as a participant\, you must attend the full training (8:30 am-4:30 pm
 ) on both days to receive a certificate of completion.\nEligible for 12.75
  hours of CEUs. We are able to give the ASIST certificate upon full comple
 tion of the training and this certificate is sufficient for several OBPCT\
 , MHACBO and MHAAO.\nLocation:  DHS East Branch\, 11826 NE Glisan St\, Po
 rtland\nWho Should Attend?\n\n 	Anyone aged 16 and over is encouraged to t
 ake ASIST. It provides a suicide first-aid intervention model for relation
 ships with family\, friends and co-workers.\n 	It can also be incorporated
  into more formal helping roles such as counseling\, health care\, crisis 
 services\, or chaplaincy. You can play a vital role in creating Networks o
 f Safety from suicide.\n\nWhat Will You Learn?\n\n 	In ASIST you will lear
 n how to help someone thinking about suicide develop a personalized SafePl
 an to keep safe-for-now and connect with further help.\n 	Learn to apply a
  Safety Framework to guide the development of this SafePlan through a coll
 aborative helping relationship.\n 	You will also consider how personal and
  community attitudes about suicide affect someone's openness to seek help 
 and your ability to provide it.\n 	This workshop will increase your willin
 gness\, confidence\, and capacity to provide suicide first-aid.\n\n\n\nHow
  Will You Learn?\n\n 	We aim to provide a safe learning environment.\n 	Tr
 ainer presentations and powerful videos to stimulate discussion and suppor
 t learning\n 	Extensive opportunities for skills practice\n 	Shared partic
 ipant experiences that enrich learning\n 	Trainer-facilitated workgroups t
 o optimize participation\n\nWhat Else\n\n 	Direct and honest discussion ab
 out suicide is encouraged. While sometimes challenging\, this prepares hel
 pers to openly approach people with thoughts of suicide\, and to help them
