DESCRIPTION:ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)\nAttendanc
 e:  Please note that the ASIST workshop is a two-day in-person class\, 
 and as a participant\, you must attend the full training (8:30 am-4:30 pm
 ) on both days to receive a certificate of completion.\nParking Instructio
 ns:  Please use street parking. The parking lot is very limited and if yo
 u do so\, please make sure you review the signs in the parking lot since h
 alf is reserved for the apartments and unauthorized vehicles will be towed
 .\n\nWho Should Attend?\n\n 	Anyone aged 16 and over is encouraged to take
  ASIST. It provides a suicide first-aid intervention model for relationshi
 ps with family\, friends and co-workers.\n 	It can also be incorporated in
 to more formal helping roles such as counseling\, health care\, crisis ser
 vices\, or chaplaincy. You can play a vital role in creating Networks of S
 afety from suicide.\n\nWhat Will You Learn?\n\n 	In ASIST you will learn h
 ow to help someone thinking about suicide develop a personalized SafePlan 
 to keep safe-for-now and connect with further help.\n 	Learn to apply a Sa
 fety Framework to guide the development of this SafePlan through a collabo
 rative helping relationship.\n 	You will also consider how personal and co
 mmunity attitudes about suicide affect someone's openness to seek help and
  your ability to provide it.\n 	This workshop will increase your willingne
 ss\, confidence\, and capacity to provide suicide first-aid.\n\n\n\nHow Wi
 ll You Learn?\n\n 	We aim to provide a safe learning environment.\n 	Train
 er presentations and powerful videos to stimulate discussion and support l
 earning\n 	Extensive opportunities for skills practice\n 	Shared participa
 nt experiences that enrich learning\n 	Trainer-facilitated workgroups to o
 ptimize participation\n\nWhat Else\n\n 	Direct and honest discussion about
  suicide is encouraged. While sometimes challenging\, this prepares helper
 s to openly approach people with thoughts of suicide\, and to help them ke
