SUMMARY:ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) - In Person - 
 Portland (MC)
DESCRIPTION:ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)\nThe ASIST
  workshop takes place in person over two consecutive days from 8:30am-4:30
 pm.\nAttendance for the full two days is mandatory\, and late arrivals/ear
 ly departures are not\naccepted.\nEvery participant who attends the full t
 raining will receive a certificate of completion with hours\nstated on the
  certificate. Additionally\, 13 free CEUs for licensed mental health provi
 ders and\nDPSST first responders are provided. More information about ASIS

 nd?\n\n 	Anyone aged 16 and over is encouraged to take ASIST. It provides 
 a suicide first-aid intervention model for relationships with family\, fri
 ends and co-workers.\n 	It can also be incorporated into more formal helpi
 ng roles such as counseling\, health care\, crisis services\, or chaplainc
 y. You can play a vital role in creating Networks of Safety from suicide.\
 n\nWhat Will You Learn?\n\n 	In ASIST you will learn how to help someone t
 hinking about suicide develop a personalized SafePlan to keep safe-for-now
  and connect with further help.\n 	Learn to apply a Safety Framework to gu
 ide the development of this SafePlan through a collaborative helping relat
 ionship.\n 	You will also consider how personal and community attitudes ab
 out suicide affect someone's openness to seek help and your ability to pro
 vide it.\n 	This workshop will increase your willingness\, confidence\, an
 d capacity to provide suicide first-aid.\n\n\n\nHow Will You Learn?\n\n 	W
 e aim to provide a safe learning environment.\n 	Trainer presentations and
  powerful videos to stimulate discussion and support learning\n 	Extensive
  opportunities for skills practice\n 	Shared participant experiences that 
 enrich learning\n 	Trainer-facilitated workgroups to optimize participatio
 n\n\nWhat Else\n\n 	Direct and honest discussion about suicide is encourag
 ed. While sometimes challenging\, this prepares helpers to openly approach
  people with thoughts of suicide\, and to help them keep safe.\n\n\nTraini
