  Skills Training.\n\nPlease note that the ASIST training is a two-day c
 lass\, it is delivered in person and participants are required to attend
  the full class on both days.   Due to national standards\, there are n
 o virtual options for this training.\n\nPlease read through this confirma

 ed Suicide Intervention Skills Training - Two Day Training -- In Person\n
 Wednesday\, February 7\, 2024 AND Thursday\, February 8\, 2024  (both day

 ontent and Location Alerts:   The ASIST training teaches a specific sui
 cide prevention intervention.  Some of the content of the curriculum may 
 trigger troubling feelings and thoughts. The class is not a form of couns
 eling\, therapy or support group.   If you are a suicide attempt surviv
 or or have experienced a loss by suicide\, we suggest delaying taking the 
 ASIST class for at least a year.   If you are currently experiencing th
 oughts of suicide\, please contact Clackamas County Crisis Line at 503 65
 5-8585 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255\; th
 ey are both available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.  If you have ques
 tions about whether this class is a good fit for you at the present time\,

 \nThe training will be held at the Public Safety Training Center which inc
 ludes a shooting range.   Participants may be able to hear people practi
 cing with firearms while in the building but it won't interfere with being
  able to hear or view the training.  However it may activate troubling fe
 elings and thoughts.    If this is the case for you\, please consider ta
 king the class at another time and location.    Thank you.\n\nPlease Pla
 n Your Commute:  Please plan your commute so that you have time to park\,
  make your way to the training room and can be seated by 8:30 am.   Than
 k you for your consideration. The training process will begin promptly at
  8:30 am and ends at 4:30 pm - please note participants who do not arrive
  on time may not be admitted to the class.\n\nParking/Transportation: Visi
 tors' parking is available in the lot adjacent to the entrance to the Publ
 ic Safety Training Center.  For bus and light rail information\, please c
 ontact Tri-Met.\n\nBreaks &amp\; Food: Lunch is on your own and there wi
 ll be a 60-minute lunch break.   There are numerous restaurants within d
 riving distance of the training location. Please feel free to bring snacks
 \, lunch\, water bottle\, eating utensils and anything else you will need 
 for the day.  We apologize but we will not have access to a microwave or 
 refrigerator.   Water fountains are available in the building.\n\nAttire
 : Please feel free to wear comfortable clothes.  The temperature in the 
 training room can vary and you may want to layer clothing in case it is wa
 rm or chilly.\n\nSeating:  Some people may prefer to bring a seat cushion
  or pad to increase their comfort being seated a large part of the day on 
 conference room chairs.\n\nRegistration: Please note that classes are lim
 ited in size to provide the best experience for the trainees and to provid
 e the training to fidelity. For this reason\, registrations are specific t
 o the individual who has signed up to attend the class and cannot be tran

 the full training on both days to participate and to receive certificat
 ion.    The ASIST curriculum is designed to build sequentially upon kno
 wledge and skills\, and class participation is an integral part of the des
 ign. As a result\, we require participants to attend both days from 8:30 a
 m to 4:30 pm.  Please plan your schedule so that you are able to attend t
 he full training\, otherwise please cancel so that others may have the ben
 efit of this training.  If you need to be away less than an hour during t
 he days\, please email kturner@clackamas.us for advance approval and we 
 will try to accommodate your situation on a case by case basis. Thank you
