SUMMARY:AID Mental Health Awareness Training - Virtual (MC)
DESCRIPTION:AID (Awareness\, Interaction\, Direction)\nAID is a 60 to 90-mi
 nute\, evidence-based\, mental health awareness training that teaches indi
 viduals how to interact effectively with someone experiencing mental distr
 ess using three steps:  \n\n 	Awareness: Recognizing signs and symptoms 
 of distress\n 	Interaction: Effectively interacting with someone in distre
 ss\n 	Direction: Locating and providing resources to individuals in distre
 ss\n\nAID was developed from a need to educate people about mental health 
 and stigma around mental illness\, as well as to provide information on ho
 w to best intervene in situations where a person is experiencing mental di
 stress. \n\nAID training uses social and health behavior change theories\
 , including Social Cognitive Theory and the Broaden and Build Theory of Po
 sitive Emotions\, as its conceptual framework.\n\nOther key components of 
 this training include:\n\n 	Engaging in a series of open-ended discussions
  that help participants explore their beliefs and perceptions about mental
  health  \n 	Practicing the AID action plan using relevant scenarios \n
  	Reducing stigma about mental illness and substance use\n 	Promoting self
 -care\n\nOnce registered\, you will receive a registration confirmation em
 ail. \nIn addition\, an email will be sent 2-3 days prior to the training 
 date with preparation instructions and the Zoom link. \n\n\n\n
